Born in Salem, Alabama, she was a resident of Syracuse for over 65 years. Mae retired from the New York Telephone Co. after 35 years of service. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil McCurty; her parents, John and Nettie Sanders; brother, Cleveland Sanders; and sisters, Rosie Dowdell and Annie Bradford. Mae Stella is survived by two sons, Cecil (Maryann) McCurty and Cleveland (Jean) McCurty, both of Syracuse; six sisters, two brothers, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday 12 Noon at Bethany Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours: Friday 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. at the church, 149 Beattie Street, Syracuse.
