Let the redeemed of the Lord say so
New York Governor David Paterson's paternal grandmother was one of Marcus Garvey's secretaries.
She was Jamaican. Her husband was from Grenada.
Their son, David Paterson's father, Basil Paterson was a NY State Senator in the 1960s, and an inspiration in my early childhood.
As did
John Jay,
Dewitt Clinton,
Martin Van Buren,
William Seward,
Grover Cleveland,
Samuel J. Tilden,
Theodore Roosevelt,
Franklin D. Roosevelt, and
Nelson Rockefeller,
the grandson of Garveyites governs the Empire State.
Marcus Garvey once said,
"Look for me in the whirlwind or the storm, look for me all around you, for, with God's grace, I shall come and bring with me countless millions of black slaves who have died in America and the West Indies and the millions in Africa to aid you in the fight for Liberty, Freedom and Life."
James Brown once said,
"Say it loud, I'm Black and I'm proud."
God Bless David Paterson.
