Miami, FL (AP/WBZ Newsroom) -- Former FBI agent John Connolly is denying any role in the 1982 slaying of a Miami gambling executive.

The 68-year-old Connolly said Thursday he never gave Boston mobsters information that led to the shooting death of 45-year-old John Callahan. That's despite a jury verdict last month that Connolly is guilty of second-degree murder.

A Miami judge decided to postpone Connolly's sentencing to consider legal motions. Connolly faces up to life in prison. Connolly's lawyers seek a more lenient sentence.

Connolly is already serving 10 years behind bars on a 2002 federal conviction for racketeering because of his corrupt relationships with Boston's notorious Winter Hill Gang. The gang was led by FBI most-wanted fugitive James "Whitey" Bulger.

In a jailhouse interview Wednesday, Connolly told the Boston Globe that Bulger called him after fleeing Boston and discussed the possibility of surrendering.
