The Rev. James L. Bevel dies at 72; civil rights activist and top lieutenant to King

BEVEL, Rev. James, of Loudon County, Va., died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008. His funeral will be December 29 at Greater Christ Temple Apostolic Church, located at 312 Hyde Park Ave. Eutaw, Ala. Rev. Bevel was a lieutenant for Dr. Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights struggle. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to REACH, Inc. 312 Hyde Park Ave., Eutaw, AL 35462.
