Curtis Sanders



Curtis  Sanders, age 87 of Hamilton, passed away at Birchwood Care Center on Thursday, April 11, 2013. He was born in Loachapoka, AL on April 2, 1926 to John and Nettie (Aldridge) Sanders.  On July 31, 1982 in Ottawa, IL, he married Barbara Johnson. Curtis was employed at at Crouse Hinds for 30 years, and also worked 10 years at the Syracuse Foundry. Curtis was a hardworker, enjoyed hunting, and was a deacon in the Baptist church. He was a member of the Freemasons, and was a kind person, willing to help anyone in their time of need. Curtis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sanders; 6 daughters, Barbara Boatrigh, Jeannette Sanders, Priscilla Sanders, Sandra (Randy) Hudson, Abigail (Dwayne) Boyd, and Desiree Sanders; step-daughters, Deborah Jones, Rhonda Warner, Adrena Phillips, Kim Johnson, and Lashawn (Elliot) Hill; a step-son, Ralph (Barbara) Johnson; brother, Howard (Fannie) Sanders; 6 sisters, Bernice (Ernest) Wynn, Rebennie (Major) Wilson, Johnie Mae (Jenkins) Yancy, Emma Crowder, Leona (Henry) Collins, Doris Wagner; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, neices, nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Sanders; a daughter, Brendalon Day; his parents; two brothers, Cleveland Sanders, and Sylvester Sanders; and 3 sisters, Rose Dowdell, Mae Stella McCurty, and Annie Ruth Bradford; and the mother of his children, Elease Sanders.
