James Stanley "Snake" Crawford

On Sunday, March 4, 2012 God in his humble submission called to rest a special angel. James S. Crawford was born July 5, 1947 in Utica, New York to the late Walter Jones and Grace Saunders. James was the oldest of six children.

James graduated from Utica Free Academy. He joined the United States Marine Corp on September 29, 1965 and served in the Vietnam War. James was a very skilled carpenter whose work can be seen throughout New York State and Florida during his residency.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Saunder.

Precious memories and thoughts of James are engraved in the hearts of his wife, Faye Crawford; two sons, James (Samantha) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Jamie of Syracuse, NY; four daughters, Lynette Johnson, and Sonja B. both of Washington, DC, Alecia of Albany, GA, and Brianna of Rocky Mount, NC; four step-children; one brother, Warren Saunders of Syracuse, NY; three sisters, Judy (Charles) Hodges of Fayetteville, NC, Stephanie Williams of Syracuse, NY, and Maureen Saunders of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Hunter-Odom Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Michael Frazier, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
