CARLOS COOPER JR. Funeral service for Mr. Carlos Cooper Jr., 76, of Auburn will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Auburn A.M.E. Zion Church with interment in Westview Cemetery. Pastor Stephen Faulk will officiate. Mr. Cooper passed Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the East Alabama Medical Center. He was a member of Auburn A.M.E. Zion Church where he served as an usher and sang with the male chorus. In 1956, he graduated from Lee County Training School. He served in the U.S. Marines, the U.S. Marines Reserve and retired from the USDA as a laboratory technician. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Survivors: his wife, Shirley Cooper, Auburn; four children, Michelle Cooper (Dwight) Rosse, Helena, AL, Gerald Cooper, Auburn, Carlos (Kristy) Cooper III, Lexington, KY and Tony (Carla) Cooper, Landover, MD; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Mootoo, Elmont, NY and Betty Thomas, Loachapoka; a sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Philpot, Auburn; step mother, Annie M. Willis, Atlanta, GA; special friends, Louis Young and Theoler Harris both of Auburn; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Peterson and Williams Funeral Home
