Frances Porter



Funeral servicefor Mrs. Frances Ogletree Porter, 87, of Auburn, will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 27, 2013 at White Street Missionary Baptist Churchwith interment in Westview Cemetery. Pastor Jamal Oliver will officiate. Mrs. Porter passed Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at her home. She was a member of White Street Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the Church Clerk, Church Program Coordinator, member of the Senior Choir and president of the Missionary Society. Mrs. Porter was a member of the Auburn District Missionary Society and was affiliated with Philista Chapter #184 OES. She was a graduate of Lee County Training School and later completed studies in Food and Nutritional Science at Tuskegee University. Mrs. Porter retired from Alabama Council on Human Relations Head Start where she served as Dietitian from the program's inception in Lee County. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home this evening at 6:00 pm. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers and green plants, memorials may be made in her memory to: White Street Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund Post Office Box 2621 Auburn, AL 36831 / Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County, 1364 Gatewood Dr., Suite 221, Auburn, AL 36830. Survivors: five children, Rev. Morris E. (Wanda) Lewis, Opelika, Frederick Douglas (Gloria) Lewis, Weston, FL, Martha E. Ogletree, Auburn, James W. Porter, Atlanta, GA and Ernest D. Porter, Gulf Port, MS; eight grandchildren, Frederick D. Lewis Jr., Birmingham, AL, Latasha Madden, Summerville, GA, Courtney M. Lewis, Auburn, Francesca Danielle (Shannon) Allison, Atlanta, GA, Chelsea Ann Lewis and Daniel D. Lewis both of Weston, FL, April R. Pitts and LaShonda Scott both of Auburn; five great grandchildren, Jaylen Pitts, Kamari Scott and Kayden Scott all of Auburn, Bradenton Madden, Summerville, GA and Peyton D. Allison, Atlanta, GA; her caregivers, Patricia Ann Jackson, Brenda Warren, Doris Tolbert, Millie Calloway and Pereisha Oliver; a host of other relatives and friends.
