Ann Trimble of Auburn, Alabama

ANNIE MAE TRIMBLE Funeral service for Ms. Annie Mae Trimble, 76, of Auburn will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Paul AME Church in Opelika with interment in Memory Hill Cemetery. Pastor Monique Summers will officiate. Ms. Trimble passed Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Bethany House. She was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church where she served as the church secretary, stewardess, Sunday school leader, class leader and as a missionary. In 1956, she graduated from J.W. Darden High School. She received her Child Development Associate (CDA) from Southern Union and a STARS credential from the Child Care Resource Center in Opelika. Annie began her employment with Auburn Day Care Centers, Inc. in 1975 and remained employed until her short illness in May 2014. She was a lifelong member of the Federation of Child Care Centers of Alabama (FOCAL), Childcare Community Partnership with Alabama Council on Human Relations, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and a member of various other child care and community initiatives. In March 2012, Annie was selected as one of the first recipients to receive The Spirit of HOPE Award from Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Psi Gamma Zeta Chapter, which was presented by the national president, TV host and comedian, Cheryl Underwood. Annie later became a member of the first chartered AMICE affiliation in the region where she served as secretary. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm at Allen Chapel AME Church in Gold Hill. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Survivors: her children, Pamela Trimble-Smith (David). Gerald Trimble, Stacy Trimble and Garland Trimble all of Auburn; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one niece and three nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews, family members, church members, sorority sisters, ADCC staff, parents and friends.
