A celebration of life for Emma Lou Echols, 93, of Auburn, Alabama, will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2 Day Lily Street, Loachapoka, AL 36865, with interment in Pine Level Cemetery, Reverend Anthony Shealey, officiating. Mrs. Echols, who passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Piedmont Regional Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA, was born July 1, 1925 in Lee County, Alabama. Public viewing will be Friday, September 21, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Echols will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service. Survivors include: eight children: Jeanette Jones of Warner Robins, GA, Roger (Anna Mae) Echols of Riverdale, GA, Jerome (Lucy) Echols of Opelika, AL, Walter James Echols of Austin, TX, Larry (Gwenetta) Echols of Phenix City, AL, Robert Echols of Auburn, AL, Doretta Barner of Jonesboro, GA and Veronica Denise Echols of Decatur, GA; one daughter-in-law, Emma Crowder of College Park, GA; one sister, Clara Mathis of Syracuse, NY; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a host of great-great grandchildren; god-daughter, Mary Webb of Opelika, AL; devoted nephew, Ralph (Shirley) Crowder of Auburn, AL and devoted cousin, Clinton (Romelia) Jordan of Auburn, AL; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
