ARDELL MOORE WILLIS

Funeral service for Mrs. Ardell Moore Willis, 93, of Loachapoka will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Ebenezer C.M.E. Church with interment in Pine Level Cemetery. Rev. Larry Threatts will officiate. Mrs. Willis passed Monday, July 7, 2014 at her home. She was a member of Ebenezer C.M.E. Church where she served as an Usher, Stewardess, Class Leader, Missionary, member of the Lay Department and the Women's Ministry. During this time, she served on the Montgomery Phenix City Opelika District and the Southeast Alabama Region of the C.M.E. Church. She also participated in the Missionary Institute of the Fifth Episcopal (C.M.E. Church). She possessed a love for poetry and shared a poem or reading for every occasion. Mrs. Willis received numerous awards to include the Alabama State Spelling Bee for Seniors (1996, 1999, 2000, 2001). The family will receive family and friends at the Funeral Home this evening at 6:00 pm. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Survivors: two daughters, Cordella Dowdell of Syracuse, NY and Emogene Willis (Johnny, Jr.) Crittenden of Tuskegee, AL; three grandchildren, Denise Dowdell (Steven) McKay, Faith Philpot (Dedrell) Brooks and Hope Crittenden (Donald) Menifee; four great grandchildren, Veyunka (Brandon Burnham) Brooks, JauriusTee Brooks, Najee Brooks and JazShawna Little; one great granddaughter, Lyric Annelise Burnham; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
