July 22, 2009 Mrs. Hester Jones, 105, of Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday at home, with her family at her side. She was a Syracuse resident for 60 years and a retiree from General Electric after 25 years service. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconate board and Sunday school department. Surviving are her devoted daughter, Yvonne Newman of Syracuse; grandson, Frank Newman of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hour will be 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Bethany Baptist Church, 149 Beattie St., with funeral services following at noon. Burial will be in Laurens, SC. Garland Bros.
