Christine Ward

MRS. IMER CHRISTINE WARD The funeral service for Christine Ward will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Garden Hill Cemetery, Pastor Clifford E. Jones will officiate. Mrs. Ward, who passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010, at the Enterprise Health & Rehabilitation Facility, was born in Geneva County, Alabama. Public viewing will be Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. The family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 pm. -7:00 p.m. Mrs. Ward was a member of Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church and served as: Past President of the Missionary Society; Senior Choir Musician; Deacon Wives; and various other Ministries within the church. She graduated from Selma University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Alabama State University. In 1953, she and her husband, K.C. Ward, founded Ward's Funeral Home which she continued operating after his death. She is a former member of: Alabama Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, Inc.; National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, Inc.; and East Alabama Funeral Directors and Morticians Association where she served as Secretary. Survivors include: four children; Irma (Alfred) Townsend of Enterprise, AL, Novelette (Jesse) Seroyer, Detrich Ward both of Opelika, AL, and Maurice O. Ward, Sr. of Opelika, AL; one brother, Ivrie Thompson of Springfield, MA; one aunt, Lottie Tillis of Samson, AL; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
