Funeral service for Mr. Walter Field Echols Sr., 85, of Notasulga will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church with interment in Pine Level Cemetery. Rev. Willie Davis will officiate. Mr. Echols passed Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his home. He was a member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Echols was a member of Loachapoka Masonic Lodge #292. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Survivors: his wife, Ethel Echols, Notasulga; ten children, Walter Echols Jr., Opelika, Roger (Ann) Echols, Riverdale, GA, Jerome (Lucy) Echols, Opelika, Larry (Gwennetta) Echols, Phenix City, Walter James Echols, Houston, TX, Robert Echols, Auburn, Gene (Emma) Crowder, Atlanta, GA, Jeanette (James) Jones, Warner Robins, GA, Veronica Echols, Decatur, GA and Doretta Barnett, Jonesboro, GA; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren; five sisters, Carrie Lee Webb, Camp Hill, Mozell Warren, Orlando, FL, Lillian (Rev. James) Crabb and Dell Turk both of Auburn and Josephine (Louis) Stinson, Albany, GA; three brothers, Arthur Lee (Ida Pearl) Echols and George (Princella) Echols both of Auburn and James Echols, Champaign, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
