Tilmon Pratt (Husband of Rebecca Matthews of Loachapoka)




OTTAWA — Tilmon G. Pratt, 98, of Ottawa, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Ottawa Regional Hospital & Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Robert Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church. Arrangements are through Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Tilmon was born Nov. 10, 1912, in Hollendale, Miss., to Sam and Myrtle (Gordon) Pratt. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Rebecca Matthews on Jan. 16, 1953, in Ottawa. He was a resident of Ottawa for more than 60 years.

He was employed by GE Plastics for many years and retired in 1978. He was a member and a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa.

Tilmon leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Rebecca Pratt; one daughter, Margaret (Lars) Pruitte of Joliet; four sons, Larry (Melissa) Pratt and Roger (Marg Hiller) Pratt, both of Ottawa, and Jerry (Josie Rodriguez) Pratt and Gregory (Karla Schmitz) Pratt, both of Streator; nine grandkids, Lars Jr., Tyese, Tawayna, Marlin Pruitte, Danielle, Shania, Larry Jr., Travis and Jill Pratt; nine great- grandkids; two sisters, Lorene Taylor and Anna Bilia, both of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Albert Pratt of Greenville, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tilmon "Charles" Pratt; six sisters; and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be Greg and Erastus Pratt, Sam Griffin, Russell Shepherd, Lewis Avery and Lars Pruitte Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry, Roger and Larry Pratt, Marlin Pruitte, Oliver Bridges and Earl Phillips.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
