Nash, a yellow journalist, saw the same thing in the 1870s when Hiram Revels ascended to the US Senate seat formerly held by the treasonous Jefferson Davis. Nash mocked the defeated secessionists with this same quote from Othello.
We are living through a similar episode that reveals the best and worst in human hearts and minds.
Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it, and the root word of ignorance is ignore.
Racists, their apologist, and especially THOSE ENTERTAINED BY THE FOOLISHNESS disgrace humanity and are worthy of mockery.
